I know Siggy Sanchez--have known him for almost 10 years. I know that he never meant for this to happen, and I pray that he will find a way to, at least, make this poor girl's death mean something....

I certainly understand how the girl's family must feel--and I know that I, too, would want vengeance were this my beloved daughter and sister and friend.

Still, I must ask: Will more blood bring the girl back? Will revenge really help? And most of all, would our hatred, our desire for revenge and punishment--to 'hang him' really be what this girl would want?

Perhaps we ought to give a thought or two to what SHE might wish to happen to Siggy....

If someone took my daughter from me there is only one thing I would want to happen to the person resonsible. Do you have a daughter?

Accidents happen. Bad choises were made but rarely is only one person to blame.

The girl got on the motorcycle willingly. The boy drove the motorcycle.

There is a question as to whether there was mechanical failure.

The age is 17. Not adults, not children but still not aware of all the consequences of their actions.

You comment if someone took your daughter away from you....

would your daughter be out 15 miles from home at 1:30 in the morning.

Better yet what if your daughter was the driver of the bike?

They make mistakes, some end in tragedy.

This kid is going to make the same mistakes all over again. A "kid" who doesn't have the good sense not to ride around unlicensed and drunk on a motorcycle with a girl on the back is not going to develop the good sense not to do it again durring his hospital stay. So, maybe not hung, but severely punished. It's the victims's parents job to wish him hung.

You keep going back to the parents looking for revenge. Maybe they should be punished for their lack judgement.

What kind of parents let a 17 year old girl hang out at 1:30 in the morning.

What if it were your kid. What if your daughter was the one who was driving. Would you feel the same.

There's no evidence of alcohol - its an automatic charge in the area at any early morning crash - I'm surprised you didn't know that. Police don't ask a minor for a breathlizer test.

And what if the accident was caused by mechanical failure.

There has been no trial, no proof of intentional malice and since the newspapers are contradicting themselves to the extent one has pulled its story how does anyone know what happened.

Do you know where your daughter is right now and who she hangs out with?

I'd be suprised if that's true but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

"And what if the accident was caused by mechanical failure."

Which still brings us back to the fact that he ws riding someone else's bike unlicensed.

"Do you know where your daughter is right now and who she hangs out with?"

Yes.

"Sigfredo Sanchez, who authorities said was not licensed to drive the 2005 Kawasaki he crashed about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, pleaded not guilty in Chelsea District Court to charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, and motor vehicle homicide, prosecutors said. The crash killed 17-year-old Megan Power.

A judge ordered Sanchez held on $1,000 cash bail and barred him from drinking alcohol, driving, or attending the victim's wake and funeral.

Prosecutors said Sanchez was riding westbound on Centennial Avenue in Revere when he lost control near Franklin Avenue. Sanchez did not own the motorcycle, they said. Power was taken to Whidden Memorial Hospital in Cambridge, where she was pronounced dead."

From the Globe.

Key points being..."operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, and motor vehicle homicide"

Which brings me to the question, whose bike was it? Stolen? Borrowed? If borrowed, why did someone let an unlicensed kid borrow their bike. Is "Siggy" a thief or did someone lend to this tragedy by giving him permission to take a bike for a spin at 1:30 in the morning after drinking.

Bad ones. No doubt.

"What if it were your kid. What if your daughter was the one who was driving. Would you feel the same."

It wouldn't because the moment I caught wind that my daughter was hanging out with the kind of kid that steals (borrows?) motorcycles and joyrides them around town at 1:30am after drinking I would make it perfectly clear to him that if he every came near my daughter again I would bury him. The fact that she obviously has lousy parents doesn't make "Siggy" any less guilty.

Who's to say that her parents knew what was going on? You don't know the situation. Until you know the situation first hand, do not post anything.

I don't need to know the situation. What I do know is, knowing where your 17 year old daughter is at 1:30 AM is as simple as setting a curfew and enforcing it.

NO ONE who didn't know Megan, or her parents have a right to say ANYTHING. I knew Megan since I was born. She was my best friend growing up, so therefore her parents were like mine and I can say that they were not "bad" or "lousy" parents. I know for a fact that her parents are NOT out for revenge (killing Siggy) but he should be punished in some way. Any parents first initial reaction would be to punish the person responsible and none of you can say that's not true. If you got a call saying that your daughter had been killed you all know that you would think the same way. Her parents are currently mourning the death of their only daughter, there's no need to post negative things about them when NONE of you know them personally like I do. So all you people should just save your time and stop being worried about people you don't know (apparently you think you do?)and focus on your own lives and straightening them out, but when something like this happens to you, it may or may not, but then you'll have something to think about. Until then, you need to realize that you can never feel their pain or be in their shoes.

Rest In Peace Megan Power
I LOVE AND MISS YOU

I never got to know this girl,
but I can tell you right now,
that Anonymous is half right.
She did get on the motorcycle, and it wasn't all his fault.
and I miss my cousin as much as the next person, but can we really say she was forced onto that motorcycle?
Maybe my aunt and uncle made some mistakes, but they loved that girl more than life itself. It's not fair to blame them.

I love you, Megan Lee.
and I miss you more nowadays.
& When you see Michael Luu up there, tell him that he's missed as well, because he is.
More than the world could know.
